The best way to check that the temperature of your engine is correct (and therefore your mixture setting is correct) is to do the 'water drop' test.
After 5 minutes of running drop some water onto the engine heatsink, the water should bubble before evaporating slowly. If the water doesn't evaporate at all then the engine is not up to optimum temperature and you can lean it off a little (8th of a turn on the main needle) If it evaporates immediately the engine is too hot and needs richening.
